Hulk Scene Animation Progress (Render tests)

Image
We are nearly finished animating the Hulk scene as well. Top view shots of this scene are even initialy rendered out as we couldn't properly see the traffic in playblasts because the cars are only StandIns. Hulk scene only needs to get done the shot of Bruce Banner transformed into Hulk and then we're ready to render this scene out as well. Front view animation progress. Top view of Bruce Banner tranaforming into the Hulk. Top view of Bruce Banner transformation render. Opening top view scene of Hulk scene.

We're pretty much finished and ready to render Batman scene as well.  We're planning only to adjust timing on close-up of the gloves shot, then we'll start render this scene out. Batman clipping his belt scene playblast. Batman putting on gloves scene playblast. Batman's face close-up scene playblast. Batman coming out of his garage scene playblast. Full playblast of Batman scene.

Superman/Ending Scene Layout & Animation Progress

Image
Superman/Ending scene is the most challenging from our whole animation. This scene includes all of our characters and several props. Therefore, we decided to use StandIns and matte painting for the props as palm trees and buildings in the background. We used grass texture applied on a plane and a few modelled grass stalks for the gorund. We've done several tests for the grass using paint effects grasses. However, we couldn't achieve cartoonish/comic book look with any of those grasses. There is still a few more things left to adjust as for example the bushes behind bench or lighting of the scene, but we are currently moving on to the animation part and we'll come back to correct details later on.  1. - 8. grass test using paint effects Latest render test and scene set up. Render test and scene set up for the beginning shot of Superman scene.  Current animation progress.

Hulk Scene/Layout, Lights, Animation Progress

Image
As the Hulk scene required many cars around Hulk's car, we decide to use StandIns for those cars to be able to achieve the quickest render time possible with a quite complex scene. We've also decided to change the lights to a Skydome light with HDR sky image applied to it and one additional point light. We're currently moving on to the next stage and starting with animation for each of the scene.  Latest render test of the front view scene.  Scene set up for the bird's eye view scene with StandIns instead of car models.  Render test of the bird's eye view scene. Current animation progress for the bird's eye view scene.

Textures and Superman/Ending Scene Progress

Image
We are finishing up scenes set up and textures so that we can move on animating them. We are planning on connecting the title sequence with Flash scene which will be the first one. Here is a design for title sequence poster which will be on a wall mixed between the rest of the posters on a wall behind Flash.  Designs for bushes we'll use in a final scene and place them behind the bench with superheroes.  Setting up the superman and final scene: Progress 01 Progress 02 Perspective view of the final scene layout. Batman Scene Progress

Image
Batman scene texturing and scene layout.  Colour and light tests for the close ups. Close up shot render.  Batman puts on gloves close up. Batman clipping his belt close up. We still need to put Batman's logo on the buckle.  Setting up the last long shot for Batman scene and corecting garage model.  Render test of Batman coming out of his garage on the mombility scooter.  Road texture.  Sky/Background matte painting.

Rigging Batman's Scooter and Hulk's Car

Image
Hulk scene and Batman scene includes a vehicles movements for which we neeeded to create a simple rigs. As we only see a movement of Hulk's car in close up, we didn't need complex rig with a wheels movements. Instead we only created simple movement from side to side to simulate engine rumble. Batman's mobility scooter was requesting a bit more complex rig as we see Batman coming out of his garage on the scooter in a long shot. Therefore, we needed to create a movement of the whole scooter in space and also movement of the wheels and handle.  Render of textured Batman's mobility scooter with initial lighting.  Engine rumble test for Hulk's car. First Rig for Batman's mobility scooter.      Batman's mobility scooter rig correction and conecting      Batman to the scooter. Handle on the first rig was moving        too far to the sides which seemed to be unnatural.

Flash Scene Progress

Image
We've started texturing and laying out the scenes. Below are initial renders and textures for the Flash scene.  Set up for a front view scene of flash coming the stairs on a stairlift chair.   Three main posters which will be placed in frames in the wall behind Flash. Additional small newspapper articles.  Render of textured model for poster's frames.  Close up scene render. Flash's feet close up scene render. Two renders of Flash realizing that he forgot his shoes on the top of the stairs scene.
